Classroom Adopt-a-Dog Program

This program is designed to be educational and fun for elementary school children. Classroom teachers across the nation are invited to have their class Adopt one of our Service Dogs in Training (SDIT) from the Puppy Raising Partnership Program. Each month, the students are each asked to contribute $1, to be collected by the classroom teacher. The money will be donated to the FSDS to support the training of their adopted SDIT. In return, the classroom teacher will be sent monthly progress reports, called a "Pupdate".

This monthly Pupdate is written by the student participants in the program and will keep young students informed of the training and progress of both the dog and the student handler. It will also inform the students of the recipient, once a match is made.

Through this program students will benefit in many ways. They will learn the importance of community involvement and giving. They will receive education on service dog (SD) training and issues, as well as benefit from the insight of the student handlers. They will learn about SD access issues, develop an appreciation of the hard work and sacrifices of community servants.

The Classroom Adopt a Dog Program raises national awareness of service dog issues and affords our student handlers the ability to become mentors and leaders to young students across the nation.
